Just finished reading "Moonwalking with Einstein"

I thought this book was about techniques for memorising. It turned being the story of the author staring from being unable to remember almost anything to being able to memorise endless sequences instantly and winning the "United States Memory Championship" within about a year.

It's an inspiring book in the sense that it shows you what you can do with your brain in short time with persistent exercise. It also puts different techniques like the "memory palace" into perspective and sets expectations correctly. I like the honest confession at the end of the book that he was able to memorise huge sequences of numbers but still his memory was average for general purpose everyday problems.

It's a nice motivating book - would call it "The Game" for the memory competitions community. Nice quick read before reading "The Memory Book" or "Secrets of Mental Math".
